Numbers are an essential part of any language. This lesson introduces you to Greek numbers, their pronunciation, and how to use them in everyday situations like counting, asking prices, or giving phone numbers.


 

1. Greek Numbers (0–20)

3. How to Form Numbers

  • Numbers from 21–99 are formed by combining tens and ones.
    Example:

    • 21: Είκοσι ένα (Íkosi éna – Twenty-one)
    • 45: Σαράντα πέντε (Saránda pénte – Forty-five)
  • Hundreds are formed by combining “εκατό” (hundred) with the number:
    Example:

    • 101: Εκατόν ένα (Ekatón éna – One hundred one)
    • 250: Διακόσια πενήντα (Diakósia penínda – Two hundred fifty)

 

4. Common Phrases with Numbers

  • What is your phone number?

    • Ποιο είναι το τηλέφωνό σου; (Pio íne to tiléfono sou? – Informal)
    • Ποιο είναι το τηλέφωνό σας; (Pio íne to tiléfono sas? – Formal)
  • How much does it cost?

    • Πόσο κάνει; (Póso káni?)
  • I am ___ years old.

    • Είμαι ___ χρονών. (Íme ___ hronón.)
