Knowing how to talk about clothing and accessories is helpful when shopping, packing, or discussing fashion. In this lesson, you’ll learn common vocabulary for clothing and accessories in Greek, along with phrases for describing or buying them.

  • Can I try this on?

    • Μπορώ να το δοκιμάσω; (Boró na to dokimáso?)

Describing Clothing:

  • The shirt is blue.

    • Το πουκάμισο είναι μπλε. (To poukámiso íne ble.)
  • The dress is beautiful.

    • Το φόρεμα είναι όμορφο. (To fórema íne ómorfo.)

 

4. Sample Conversations

Informal: Shopping with a Friend

A: Θέλω να αγοράσω μία μπλούζα.
(Thélo na agoráso mía blóuza. – I want to buy a T-shirt.)

B: Τι χρώμα θέλεις;
(Ti chróma thélis? – What color do you want?)

A: Μία κόκκινη, παρακαλώ.
(Mía kókini, parakaló. – A red one, please.)


 

Formal: In a Clothing Store

A: Συγγνώμη, πόσο κοστίζει αυτό το φόρεμα;
(Signómi, póso kostízei aftó to fórema? – Excuse me, how much does this dress cost?)

B: Κοστίζει πενήντα ευρώ.
(Kostízei penínda evró. – It costs fifty euros.)

A: Μπορώ να το δοκιμάσω;
(Boró na to dokimáso? – Can I try it on?)

B: Βεβαίως!
(Vevéos! – Of course!)

Match the Greek words with their English translations:
